An existing alcohol capture app was available for iOS and Android. To reduce cost and simplify ongoing updates and maintenance, the client wanted to move to a single web app.
We recreated the functionality and familiar feel of the existing apps as a web app, supported by a custom admin dashboard for managing studies and participants.
By working from a proven product and keeping the scope focused, we completed the transition in 8 weeks and at a comparatively low cost to the original app.
The web app is live and being used by the client to run alcohol-capture studies and collect participant data.

The client had an existing app they wanted recreated as a web app, while also expanding it beyond the functionality of the original product.
We reproduced the established app experience, added the requested tasks, and provided an admin dashboard for managing studies and participants.
We used the existing app as a familiar foundation, then incorporated the new task requirements into a cohesive workflow.
The expanded CheckCog app is being used in research studies to deliver cognitive tasks and collect participant responses.
Server and database

The client needed a secure way to receive and store data from a passive smartphone sensing study.
We configured a server to host the backend, together with a MySQL database and dashboard allowing the research team to view and export live data.
After setting up the backend, we verified that passive sensing data was being recorded on participant phones, uploaded to the server and stored correctly. Custom data views then give the client a practical way to inspect incoming data live and export it for further analysis.
The server, database and dashboard are operational and supporting live data collection for an active passive smartphone sensing study.
